Question: We went to repair shop .. They read code.. P0137 said it is the oxygen sensor.. Bank 1 Side 2 .. He wrote down the following... po137 b1 s2 o2 ssr ... He said it is the one on the back of the converter ,does that sound correct ??? If so How difficult is it to change & get to , to be able to change it ..??? Thanks Jack
Answer: Yes, what he wrote down refers to oxygen sensor Bank1, Sensor2. This is the 02 sensor behind the catalytic converter. The sensor is not to difficult to replace, unless it is rusted solid into the exhaust pipe. Then a torch would be needed to get it out. A special sensor socket should be used to prevent stripping it, but a regular wrench can be used- assuming it is not rusted solid. After replacement, then codes need to be cleared to turn of the check engine light. Worst case is that the sensor cannot be removed, and that section of exhaust pipe would need to be replaced.
