Dodge Caravan Sport. 3.3 liter
Question = when i fill up with gas i have to pump really slow and it takes a really long time.
Answer: There are 2 common causes for this problem on your Dodge. There may be a restriction in the fuel tank filler neck. Corrosion, or possibly even someone stuffed something down there. Use a flash light to look down the filler neck for a restriction. Remember, there are gas fumes there, so do not uses an electric light, use a flashlight. The other possibility is a stuck EVAP Vent Valve. This is part of the evaporative emissions system. If it is stuck closed, then it is not venting the tank, and causing fuel to back up and shutting off the gas station pump.
Put Diesel In My Car By Mistake
Question: mistakenly put diesel fuel in my 6 cy. Chrysler 200, now it will not start, what should I do?
Answer: This is a very bad problem. Putting diesel fuel in any gas engine vehicle can cause major expensive damage.
The first thing that needs to be done is get the diesel fuel out out of it. This means draining the fuel tank, replacing the fuel filter, replace spark plugs, draining the fuel lines and fuel injectors, change the oil. Clean out these things and then add gas. Install a fuel injector cleaning kit. This entails disconnecting the inlet fuel line to the injector rail and installing a pressurized injector cleaning tank. This basically is trying to get the car to run without using the cars gas tank- it tries to run off of the cleaning tank.
Be sure to r8emove the fuel pump fuse or it will pump gas out the line you have disconnected. Try to start the car. It may take a lot of cranking, but if the injector are OK, it will start.
If the car will not run with this set-up then most likely the fuel injectors have been damaged by the diesel fuel and will need to be replaced.
