2001 Hyundai Santa Fe
Engine Size : v6
Question: no power put gas pedal down backfires and slows down .when driving gas pedal has to be kept in one certain spot or loses power.
Answer: There could be several reasons for the way your Hyundai is running. First you need to have a scan of the computer codes to see if any are stored. This would give an indication as to where the problem may be. Most of the large national parts store chains will do this for free. Even if the check engine light is not on, have it scanned. Your could have a problem with the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), a MAP sensor, or one of a number of faulty sensors. Next would be to have fuel pressure checked. If pressure was low this would also cause your problem. This could be caused by a plugged fuel filter or a bad pump.
Hyundai Sputters And Dies
Question: I have a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon it start right up and I can Rev it up just fine but when I put on in gear it spits and sputters and then dies like it is running out of gas I have checked all the wiring and all the hoses for the vacuum lines and it all looks OK.
Answer: Yes, you need to check fuel pressure. If it is low, you can have this problem. Another thing to look at is the ignition system. A bad ignition coil or several spark plug wires can cause the vehicle to sputter under load- meaning in gear. When in park, there is no big load on the engine so it can rev up freely, but in gear there is a heavy load on the engine and weak ignition system can cause the engige to sputter and die.
